As a recent photography graduate from Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent - I thought now would be a good time to create a space to show additional photographic projects that may not be featured on my website, explain my main projects further, but also to allow an informal conversation to take place.
Back in March, as a part of my Major Practical Project Module, we had the opportunity to photograph a local based fashion brand. CROWTHER/PLANT is an organic and ethical brand based in Margate, Kent.
Now, the brand is tailored towards mens fashion, however upon planning this fashion shoot I knew I wanted to include both genders. It was important to photograph in the local area - Botany's Bay, Joss Bay, Tuner Contemporary and Dreamland. From scouting out locations and observing the clothing pieces, there was a particular aesthetic that I was after. I created a mood board to refer to. (MOOD BOARD IMAGES ARE FROM GOOGLE)
Overall, I am very pleased with the outcome with this fashion shoot. I believe that there is consisitency within not only the style of shooting but also through the editing. The photographs capture the essence of the coastal town of Margate; thus representing the brand. Reflecting back on this shoot, more emphasis on the male model would have been desirable.
In my mood board I was looking into mirrors and reflections to add an element of contrast to the natural environment. This however did not go quite to plan. In the future, I would like to experiment with this again, but for now it didn't make the cut.
Check out my models on Instagram - @tinley_music and @tonilangham and my fellow photographer and friend @daniellelanghamphotography as she was photographing on this day as well.
